Ducu and Viviana Botoaca

Significant expansion planned for fast-growing London-based aesthetics business

Ducu and Viviana Botoaca, the brother-and-sister team behind a premium medical clinic in Soho, DrDucu London, which launched just over a year ago, have grown its surgical and non-surgical procedures into one of London’s most successful medical businesses. With franchises already established in the United States and Canada, the company is planning to open a second clinic in London and two more clinics in the US in 2023.

Aer coming to the UK eight years ago as a doctor, Ducu moved into specialising in aesthetics treatments and hair transplants – he was the youngest finalist in the World Medical Congress Aesthetic Awards as well as becoming a leading hair transplant surgeon.

Working with Viviana, who has continued her career as a lawyer, in December 2021 the duo founded DrDucu London in Wardour Street. Within six months, they launched two franchises in Canada and the pair are opening clinics in New York and Philadelphia in early 2023 as well as continuing to look for additional premises in London to drive further expansion.

With a range of unique medical treatments, non-surgical and surgical procedures, including fillers and botox, eyebrow and hair transplants, DrDucu offers state-of-the-art laser technology from Préime, supported by Laseraid, the UK’s leading ‘one stop shop’ for aesthetic laser provision. Dr Ducu has established an international reputation having developed unique techniques which improve the performance of injectable aesthetics, so minimising and preventing risks and side effects. He also trains practitioners and doctors from around the world at his London clinic. Already, DrDucu London has grown into a 12-strong team, with five doctors and surgeons.

Dr Ducu comments: “We come from a long line family of doctors and our vision was to set up a premium clinic in a medical setting which would offer the very latest skills and technology, as well as focusing on providing customers with exceptional service. We knew of Laseraid’s international reputation and their ethos for quality fitted perfectly with our own – they provide the best devices on the market, helping us to achieve the very best results for customers.”

Co-founder of DrDucu Viviana Botoaca, who has been a lawyer for 12 years, working with globally-renowned companies, comments: “We have been extremely impressed with the Préime DermaFacial device supplied to us by Laseraid, it is fast and efficient, we call it ‘Premium Preime’. There is really smart science behind it and, using a unique treatment created by my brother, customers feel the results are equivalent to a non-invasive, needle-free face li‑. Given our rapid growth, Laseraid’s all-inclusive service, which includes consumables, supports our business model and will be invaluable as we continue our rapid expansion.”

She continues: “The London clinic has done incredibly well in a very short space of time and is already fully booked, so we are currently looking for premises for a second clinic in central London which will focus on non-surgical procedures and medical devices. Many of the doctors and nurses from around the world who come to train with my brother are keen to open clinics in their own countries using the DrDucu name and techniques, and we are, therefore, planning to open franchises globally as well as wanting to launch a dedicated training academy. Having a reliable supplier of aesthetic devices like Laseraid at our side, who can deliver industry-leading devices and outstanding service, will be vital as we pursue our growth journey.”

Jamel Hussain, commercial director of Laseraid, commented: “DrDucu is an incredible success story, built on Ducu’s world-class aesthetics and surgical skills, together with Viviana’s business and legal expertise and an ambitious shared vision. We look forward to continuing to support them as they build the business and drive quality, knowledge and professionalism within the medical sector.”
